/scoreboard Command Generator

Beta

Track kills, deaths, mined blocks or any score you like. Name the objective, pick where it shows, add players' scores and watch the sidebar update before you copy the commands.

Describe it — AI writes the command

How it works

A working scoreboard is usually three steps: create the objective, show it somewhere, then set or change scores. The generator writes them in that order.

Java 1.13 and later

scoreboard objectives add kills playerKillCount {"text":"Kills","color":"gold","bold":true}
scoreboard objectives setdisplay sidebar kills
scoreboard players set Steve kills 3

From 1.21.5 the display name is SNBT ({text:"Kills",color:"gold",bold:true}). 1.20.2 renamed the belowName slot to below_name, and 1.20.3 added number formats, which can hide the red numbers or replace them with text:

scoreboard objectives modify kills numberformat blank

Java 1.8 to 1.12

The display name is plain text and statistics use the old names, so mined stone is stat.mineBlock.minecraft.stone instead of minecraft.mined:minecraft.stone. Objective names are limited to 16 characters until 1.18.

scoreboard objectives add kills playerKillCount Kills

Bedrock

Bedrock only has dummy objectives, so scores never count by themselves: you change them with commands. The display name is a quoted string, and the sidebar and list can sort ascending or descending:

scoreboard objectives add kills dummy "§6§lKills"
scoreboard objectives setdisplay sidebar kills descending
scoreboard players add @p kills 1

FAQ

How do I show a scoreboard on the side of the screen?

Run scoreboard objectives setdisplay sidebar <objective>. Pick “Sidebar” as the display slot and the generator adds that line.

How do I count player deaths or kills?

On Java, create the objective with the deathCount or playerKillCount criterion and it counts by itself. Bedrock only has dummy objectives, so you need commands that add to the score when something happens.

How do I hide the red numbers on the sidebar?

On Java 1.20.3 and later use scoreboard objectives modify <objective> numberformat blank. Older versions and Bedrock always show the numbers.

How do I show health under player names?

Create an objective with the health criterion and set its display slot to below_name (belowName before Java 1.20.2). On Java the tab list shows health as hearts with rendertype hearts.

Why does “Unknown criterion” appear on old versions?

Statistic criteria were renamed in 1.13. Pick your version in the generator: it converts minecraft.mined:minecraft.stone to stat.mineBlock.minecraft.stone for 1.12 and older.
